My 8 year old daughter has hydrocephalus and had a Vp shunt placed in
her head January 30, 2004. She keeps getting sever head aches and when
i take her to the hospital they do CAT scans and shunt series X-rays
and tell me that she is fine, they see nothing wrong. I am having a
hard time believing that there is nothing wrong when my child comes
home early from school in tears that her head is hurting and she is
getting stomache pain and feels like she is going to throw up. Is there
any one else out there that is going through this and can be of some
help to me. I just need some answers or something. I feel like I am
completely helpless and it upsets me to no end to see my little girl
suffer.

I would contact her specialist to see what s/he would say there maybe another problems that normal tests are not picking up..

have they checked to see if the tubing is kinked.also, this may be a
prelude to the shunt malfunctioning completely as it happened to me when
i was 13.several weeks of headaches then two weeks before school let out
for summer in 1981 the shunt stopped working completely. they said in
the ER that i had gone several weeks with not working properly.

Dear Mom,
It's only practical method, well know for many many years. Amber, is
contain same magnetic healing. Bay string of amber and let your
daughter wear around neck. It's very expences, but you can get it on
market. Real amber, if you rub on on the wooll, then they pick up small
pieces of paper.
Tray, one of my friend bought for her dauther for $5.00, she used to
have a head ache and unballances in the ears. It's solved her problem.
It's possibility that during the delivery, same way little nerve
received bit of pressure. I be happy to hear from you.

You need to take her to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, you can get
FREE access to doctors who know about Spina Bifida. Go, because to me it
sounds like her VP shunt might just be Failing... DON"T WAIT... TAKe her
CALL THEM or call the nearest one to where you are, and tell them that you
have a daughter who's had a shunt put in, at that ... she's having headaches
a lot.. I used to have a shunt in my head, mine was recently taken out,
after I had meningitis, in 98 and I too have been having headaches, but that
for me could just because I don't ahve one in... KymberAnn

Email me ***@cox.net and let me know how it turns out...

PS Shriners Hospital ,doesn't ask you to pay, even if you can't pay they
will take your daughter with out any problems... where do you live... ?
Shriners Hospital does have a website.. Here's there website you can find
out where there is one closest to you... And if they can't hel you, they can
tell you where to take her... and if she gets suddenly worse I want you to
take her directly to an emergency room... alright...don't wait for that
either... if you start to see problems with her mobility

Has a shunt infection been ruled out? I had problems with my shunt many
years ago now (20+) and had both xray and cat scan (since MRI was
unavailable to me back then). I dont know if a scan or xray can detect an
infection but its definitely something worth investigating. My GP kept
insisting that I had synus problems. When I eventually got an appointment
with my neurosurgeon he only looked at me and didn't even bother to check
the shunt before telling me and my parents that I had a shunt infection. I
had surgery 3 days later and everything has been fine since.
